Tony Astone has been in the Insurance industry for over 33 years. His first job out of college found him at Safeco Insurance as a multi-line adjuster. His ability to solve problems and assess damages quickly rose him through the ranks as he grew through Safeco, Kemper, Golden Eagle, and One Beacon to the position of Regional Unit Supervisor. He was responsible for and managed many adjusters. His role was to supervise, audit, and approve claims. Tony has always believed his clients were entitled to a fair and full settlement and needed in many cases a voice of their own.

Mr. Astone’s duties as a regional General Adjuster included handling multimillion-dollar commercial and residential property losses. He adjusted large property losses involving dwelling and building estimates; contents and business property inventories (including retail, factory production): and business income, loss of rents, and extra expense claims. He has handled claims involving high profile residential losses in Malibu and California’s wine region. His commercial claims experience spans the United States to American Samoa, including restaurants, dental labs, factories, hotels, and rental properties.

In 2008, Tony made the decision to move his talents and abilities to where he could do the most good and truly advocate for his clients. He became a Licensed Public Adjuster and went to work for the largest Public Adjusting firm on the West Coast. His role as an Executive Public Adjuster was to adjust major residential losses as well as large commercial and multi-family losses. His client base grew quickly as a result of his tenacity and strong desire to fight on behalf of his clients. (References available upon request).

In 2012, Tony saw the need for a fresh approach to the industry and formed Independence Public Adjusters, now IPA/ SunPoint Public Adjusters. His commitment to excellence being the driving force behind his desire to create a “Gold Standard” for our industry. Since forming, the company has steadily grown from its roots to take its place as a leading company on the West Coast.

Mr. Astone has participated in Examinations Under Oath on several occasions: both as a Staff Adjuster and as a Public Adjuster on claims involving coverage issues. He has provided coverage analysis on dozens of claims throughout his career. He has served as an expert witness on court cases in California involving coverage and assessment issues. He also co-authored “When the Smoke Clears” an expert guide to insurance claims.

Personal Commitment

“My belief is simple - you do the right thing. No one can understand the uncertainty of a disaster until it happens to them. It is unfair and overwhelming to anyone, whether it is their home or their business. If I can help calm that, and make sure the carriers do the right thing and my client is made whole, then that is a good day for me!”
